Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Can Improve Chances of Pregnancy
Dr. Charles Miller, MD, a top rated infertility specialist at The Advanced Gynecologic Surgery Institute, is often asked how likely it is a patient can undergo laparoscopical surgery.
"I am proud of the fact that I have not performed an open hysterectomy in over 10 years and I only perform a handful of open procedures overall each year," Dr. Miller said. "Many years, I never even perform a laparotomy; rather all procedures are performed laparoscopically or hysteroscopically."
Dr. Miller's recently treated one young patient looking to get pregnant with laparoscopical surgery.
"She was told by other reproductive endocrinologists that her only chance to have a successful pregnancy was to undergo in-vitro fertilization," Dr. Miller said.
After undergoing three failed intrauterine insemination cycles as well as three failed attempts with IVF at other facilities, she came to see Dr. Miller.
"After my thorough evaluation, she was found to have an enlarged uterus with multiple fibroids, scarring and blocked fallopian tubes," Dr. Miller said. "I subsequently performed laparoscopic multiple myomectomy with uterine reconstruction and hysteroscopically opened her blocked fallopian tube."
"After having to wait to attempt pregnancy for three months to allow the uterus to heal, the patient achieved pregnancy spontaneously within three months," Dr. Miller said. "Thus, no IVF was necessary."
Dr. Charles Miller was selected by TopTierMD as a Chicago Top Doctor and is considered one of the best Infertility Specialists in Chicago.
